81 wipers that didn't work
I recently figured out why my windshield wipers weren't working and wanted to share a bit of hard earned knowledge with the readers. I have read every forum possible on this topic and never found the answer. One day the wipers just stopped working, fuses were fine, I replaced the motor and the switch to no avail. There is a relay that controls the delay that I could not find that was the last part I needed to check but for the life of me I could not find. I finally took it to my mechanic who eventually found the relay located behind the passenger seat in the the storage well where the car jack is located. It is bolted to inside wall and cannot be seen without sticking your head into the well. I replaced the piece with an aftermarket relay that cost me $125.00 and threw out the old diode board that was in there and the wipers work perfectly now. FYI the car alarm relay is located back there as well.
