Among a few other changes I"m making in the cooling system, I'm adding a second temperature gauge. I'm keeping the original electrical sensor/gauge in the dash. The electrical sensor is on the left side between the cylinders. My electrical gauge appears to be reading 20-30 degrees too cool when compared to an infrared gun pointed at the intake manifold.
The thermostat housing hose junction covers the intake manifold sensor port. A mechanical sensor will not fit under that junction, it's too low. How did anyone solve this?
I'm considering a 45* housing with an included port or a 90* housing that appears to be taller and may make room to use the intake manifold port?
Go to rockauto.com and look up a stat housing for a 74 camaro 350, it has two ports and might work for you. Get the part number and order locally if cheaper.
