Any preference on the best tool for adjusting Quadrajets ? I see those long flexable drivers but are the really needed ? any other way to get on those look like square headed adjusters ?
I have the "D" shaped screws on my quadrajet. I used a bic pen tube, just heated up the end and pushed it on. It worked good. I could not find a screwdriver or bit to fit it.

I've used those, the ones with the changeable tips - They work pretty well, I especially liked mine since you can swap tips depending on which carb you have (different models can have different screw tips).
How much you need the flexible shaft vs a solid one depends on what you have (or don't have) obstructing access to the bottom front of the carb.
I prefer the pre-79 idle mixture screws that have slots and a 1/4" hex behind them. The flexible shaft screwdrivers are excellent for this. If you have an AIR pump, they're pretty much mandatory.
For adjusting APT on a 75-80(nonCA) carburetor, I use a 5/16" screw with the center drilled out.
There are special tools for adjusting the lean and rich stops on E4MEs that I picked up a while back.
I've got several types, but most are not made anymore except the snap-on, but I have seen old stock out there.
if you can find an old mom and pop type independent auto parts store, out in the country or somewhere obscure, they will often have lots of NOS Lisle tools, there you will find some decent carb tools among other forgotten treasures. the flexi with the double ends and sliding handle is one of my fav's.

I like it. Innovation.
Once that was done I would remove the screws and dremel a slot in the end so a regular flat screw driver could be used from then on.
