I just have monza tips on my straight pipes it's loud off idle. I do get lots of complaments on how the car sounds and if your like me you'll love the roar.

Check out this link for Purple Hornies. I use them on my 67 Cougar. Bolt right up to the headers and then a turn out pipe in front of rear wheels. Wouldn't be hard on a C3 to run the pipe all the way from the Hornies to the rear. Sounds darn nice on a punched and stroked 289. :yesnod: Much more mellow sound than straight pipes. Neighbors might not like 'em though, but then they wouldn't like my Vette either! :lol: I intend to do side pipes on "the other woman" soon. :cool:
