Couple more questions on the hood latch.
Picture 1.
Does this release wire just attach to the latch assembly (which I have cleaned up in the other picture and that is it?. It seems kind of mickey mouse to me and I am wondering if I am missing some parts. The 1969 assembly manual (Page 247) is terrible and almost unreadable.
Picture 2.
I have sand blasted the one latch and will do the other. Does anyone know if these should be painted in a 1969. It seems they are kind of a gold colour in the few pics I can find but they are not great pics. I noticed Alan's is black but his of course is a 1971.
Thanks, Pete

Yes and uses the barrel clamp shown on the wire. The wire indicates an original hood release cable or a good quality replacement. Some of the replacement cables are airplane cable, not wire.

Sorry, but that's the way they were and yours is still working after 50 years. I put a second barrel clamp on mine for insurance.
