Default rim width for 295 50 15

I guess this an ADD COD ETC moment,

As some know I am grasping on the hope of running 15" "antique" wheels,

So widest tire I can find that isn't a tall racing type idea is 295 50 15

DG runs this tire squeezed on a 8" wheel, lots of cats do, but seems too narrow in my mind,

I also wanna just buy used rims and it would seem 10-12" are easy o to find, 11" not at all,

So after almost getting a headache hunting on Google and getting nothing but conflicting opinions and the cats beating the pulpit this or that "works".

What rim or rims width is the best for a 295 50 15, not squeezed not stretched?
But a good fit?

many thanks!

I think that the 10" is more common the section width is 11.61 on the tire so there is only 3/4 of an inch on each side so that is not bad. Definitely will look old school.

so I wonder would 12" be stretching it too much?

Used to run 265/50/15 on all 4 corners on stock 1971 rims.
Looked great but tracked every rut in the road.

And 265 width was tight near the rear spring and would scrub the front wheel well lock-to-lock extreme. 295 could be trouble at those points.

I think 12 inch would be too wide, I agree 10 is close to ideal

I guess I should ave mentioned that I am modded, flares etc, but if the bs is stock then the rear doesn't know how much tire is hanging out board.
I am thinking that when a tire is squeezed down the side walls will stick out more and in turn could hit things that a tire fitting correct wouldn't hit,
On my wide body I had 12" but do not recall tire size late 80's so lots of sizes and nothing rubbed.

Um...I wish someone made the 305 50 15 tire...10" are easier to find though
