Quick question - star lock washers on flywheel bolts or not??
I am doing an auto to manual conversion on a '73 350. I'm installing a brand new 11" flywheel and I bought new flywheel bolts. The bolts did not come with lock washers. My OEM flex plate bolts did have star washers. I called the flywheel manufacture and the tech support guy said normally flywheels are not held on with lock washers. I do plan to us high strength Lock Tight on the bolts. Should I install the star lock washers or not? I didn't find any info in my AIM, but it's possible I missed the reference page.
Thanks,
Jim

Which Manual are you going to. I converted from a TH350 to a Tremec T56 Magnum 6-speed.
Loctite 2422 for me.

Agreed. Loc-Tite Blue. Never used anything else in 30+ years. Well . . . almost.... (With the exception of 2 Big Block Olds track cars) where I used "Loc-Tite Red" - (small drop). But then had to heat them up before removal.

Tried the stars once they just get real distorted probably not safe
Plus it digs into the flywheel dont know if that could create crack fissures
