Default installing gauge cluster

On the back of my gauge cluster of my 68 is a small barrel looking thing with 1 wire anybody know what that is?

Some of the older radios would pick up noise from the engine, and you`d hear a whining sound. The suppressor would filter that noise out of your music.

Oh I get ya I remember that it had something to do with the way cars used there ground wire connection, You would actually hear your car accelerate on the radio. Well there s no need for that now.
