Wiring a TH400 kickdown
Decided to go with a pedal kickdown switch for the TH400 transplanted into my 1980. My fusebox has a couple of slots marked ign. Could I just use a spade connector in one of those slots and run the wire to the switch directly to supply the 12v? Dont want to be Bubba with this so if there is a better way to do this please let me know.

You can do that, but I suggest that you install a 5 amp fuse in the line also. Not exactly sure what current that solenoid/switch in the tranny draws (probably less than 1 amp); but, you need a fuse to prevent the possibility that a dead short occurs in that line, when connected to un-fused ignition supply current.

I wouldn't use IGN for this. If the fuse blows, the motor dies. I'd tap off something less critical, maybe the fuse for the radio. You might also consider checking a wiring diagram for a '72 or '73 with the TH400 to see how the factory did it.

Adding a fuse AFTER the "IGN" pin on the fuseblock will not influence the engine at all if it blows.
