Default New here..just checking in

Hey guys, I've been lurking here for a while and decided to sign up. If you can't figure it out from my sig I'm a racer at heart. Mostly drag racin. I have a 76 vette with a small block 355. Running a CC294s and Bow tie heads. Best to date is 11.86 at 113.97 on a 1.62 60'. I run bfg drag radials and the car is street driven often. The vette is due for some cosmetic work which I plan to do soon and want to switch over to hooker side exhaust as I'm curently running through a dual 2.5 inch setup and old rusty mid length headers.

Just wanted to say hi and kinda give some background on my car. I'm looking forward to learning some things here and helping if I can.

Tim

Hey Tim, where are you at in Baton Rouge. I go to school up at LSU. They have a few people on the forum in this town. Maybe we could all meet up one day.

Hi there. You have a similar setup to mine only your times are way better than mine. What kind of carb are you running and what intake do you have. This gives me hope that there is a lot more in my car than a 12.7 at 110. Post your engine mods or email them to me. I'm interested in your combo.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Glad to be here

Mark, I would be glad to meet up with you guys one day. Maybe we can make a race day of it.

Gordonm...I have a holley 750 db that I got from my buddy. It was worked by the carb. shop and had the choke horn choped off. It was on his 8 sec. dragster when he ran gas. I'm running a victor JR. intake. 11:1 compression with bowtie heads. 3:90 gear, full manual th350 and a tci 3600 super street fighter converter. The secret is in the heads. I had chevy double hump heads on it and had a best of 12.76. Got the bowties from a friend of mine that ran them on one of the sprint car motors he had built for a national team. All I did was bolt them on and went 11.86. Didn't even retune the carb. I still have some left in tuning and exhaust I believe. Also...my car liked less timing with these heads. I had 38-39 total advance in it and was running 12.2s. I droped the timing to 36 total and went right to 11.86. I still want to try some more tuning with the timing. The better your heads are the less timing you need. You really want to run as little timing as needed. Just fyi..I think we would both pick up if we dumped the flowmasters. A buddy changed his for a set of dynomax in the turbo style muffler and picked up .15 and 1.5 mph..wtih no other changes. Those afr 190s you have are great heads. Are the right out of the box or were they worked?

The heads are right out of the box. My comp. is only about 10.1 so I know I am lagging there. The 750 is right out of the box also. Not much tuning yet. The timing is set at 38 total so I might try dropping it a little. Thanks for the info. I have a little work to do on it I see. I had the stock mufflers on and went to the Flowmasters and picked up 3 tenths and 4 mph, so the stock mufflers are really bad
