Ok so if you have the engine out of the car, one thing to consider is having it rebuilt, may only need new rings and bearings, might need a lot more, but if you have it rebuilt before you detail it, it will be nice, with new paint and you can detail the engine compartment while the engine is at the machine shop, hot tank and new paInt on the heads, block and oil Pan, even the intake if you have a cast iron intake that way when you put it all together and run the cam in, it's all nice and pristine...just saying.
