Just removed my 73 wiper motor assembly to give it a good cleaning. In the process I noticed one of the plastic fasteners(plugs?) was not fitting as flush as the other. I ve tried to get it to fit as flush as the other but it won't go in the hole all the way. Do these act as fasteners, or just a spacer? My wipers and washers have been working perfectly. Just wondering? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated before I reinstall. First pic, before Resto, showing missing plastic fastener.
Thanks,
Jimmy
Here is a pic of it actually on the car, before I removed it. So, as you can see the pin wasn't in all the way to begin with. Maybe I'm just worrying for nothing.
Hi Jimmy,
My 71 motor/pump doesn't have the 2 holes.
The 69 motor/pump set up for headlight washers has the valve that mounts in that position.
???

Alan
Thanks Alan,
Hmm! Maybe it was switched out? For a fact the washer hose outlet on it was all dark gray plastic. So I just replaced the top part for hoses with a white plastic one for judging. I'm going to do some more research now. Everything I do on the car to improve it, it seems to open up another can of worms. I thought the date code label / part # on it were ok? I know those are reproduced, too!
I'm really surprised no one on the ncrs forum picked up on that, and I've haven't had anyone respond? But then again it has 73 in the title, not 63. lol!
I'm going to check with a couple of my original 73 owners to see, and I'll get back to you.
Interesting stuff!
Regards,
Jimmy
Donnie,
What is your car's build date? I checked with another April 30th owner and his has the two plastic plugs. He also is the orig. owner of an earlier 73 and it doesn't have the plugs.
I do realize though, that my washer pump was replaced, because it was dark gray plastic not white in color.

Jimmy
Donnie,
Thanks for getting back on your build date. That makes some sense. My friend's original Sept. 72 built car doesn't have the plastic plugs either. So, they must have changed during production.
