Adding a second pickup to my fuel tank?
I am thining about adding a second pickup to my fuel tank so I can run a seperate fuel line for my nitrous system. Has anyone ever done anything like this? If so, any suggestion of where to have it placed?
Also, where could I go to get this done? I have no clue right now.
Thanks
Chris

Have no help to offer but am curious as to what the second line does? What do you plumb it too and where is the extra fuel go or how does it get into the engine?

Are you interested in using a stock style pickup/sending unit, or do you just want to weld in a fitting at the bottom of the tank for a second line? Are you sure that you can't "tee" off the existing single line? What are you going to use on this second line to provide fuel pressure?

I want a second fitting at the bottom of the tank for a second line, which id hook up my elec pump to supply my nitrous system.
I tired teeing off the existing line and dont seem to have enough pressure as of now.
pat....im on my way over your house now to teach you a clue! :cuss LoL j/k

If you are going that far why not just weld on a small sump to the bottom of the tank that already has two lines installed. I saw this done in one of teh magazines. It looked very trick and worked very well. They drilled some big holes where the sump was going to be. This kept the strenth of the tank there but had ample fuel flow.
Can't help on where to get it done though. I have heard they have to boil the tank. Similar to a radiator shop doing a radiator to get all the fuel and fumes out. Once all the fumes are out I suppose any good welder could do it.

i agree with gordon get a sump welded in to the bottom towards the back so under hard acceleration it would pick up better.ill call a guy we deal with for welding tanks and ask him how much and hes right around the corner from us too.

The sump idea sounds good to fix my problem. With a 1/4 tank of gas or less, my electric pump cavitates under hard accelleration. Keep us posted on your results.

You could always just install a small fuel cell in the back, or even better, in front of the radiator some where. You don't need a whole lot of gas for nitrous supplement unless you are going to be running it all day. I'd think a gallon fuel cell would last a long time.

Monty had a very slick sump welded into his tank. Keep in mind on his car it's feeding an 1100 hp little monster. Check his web site.
