Has anyone used a 2 piece timing cover? The kind where you don't have to drop the pan to change the cam. Do they leak oil? Has anyone changed a cam after installing one of these? Did it work OK?
I've often wondered who, other than race engine builders, would use such a thing. I cant imagine installing more than two cams in my engines lifetime, and those swaps often occuring with a rebuild or re-ring. If you're installing cams so often that a device that saves you half an hour in time is important???????Well I guess go for it.
It cant be a looks thing because you cant see the timing chain cover that well.
To me it just sounds like another potential leak - their only benefit would be cam changes as they dont do you any good with timing chain repacement.
