Default Ls7 vs ls3

Hello all, I have a question concerning the ls engines. In the near future, I want to start building a pro touring vette, modern suspension, engine, tranny, brakes etc. Etc. I have a 2011 ss camaro with an ls3 and love that car, its a lot of fun, so I'm familiar with the ls3, however, I've always wanted to have a car with an ls7 in it and I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to do it. However, I soon came to the point of thinking where the ls7 costs more than 2x the price of the ls3 and adds roughly only 65 hp, you could make most of that up in mods with the ls3, it didn't exactly pencil out until I looked up their weights and found that you're actually saving weight with the ls7. My question is, to those who might have done something similar, does it make sense to use the ls7 vs ls3 or is the ls3 just the better choice?
Thanks all

Build a 427cid LS3 and it'll be like having an LS7 without the crappy heads.

A GM crate LS3 w/ 525hp will cost $7560 +/- while a 505hp LS7 will cost $12895 +/-

Many of the forum vendors sell stroked 427cid LS3's with over 600hp for $13K+

Thanks for the reply jim, ill look into the 427 ls3 but I must admit a 525hp crate ls3 sounds pretty good too!

You gotta figure that LS-7 adds a lot of trick titanium parts too.

I'd get one of the supercharged version!!

Or add a couple of turbos to an LS anything....

I saved a few bucks going with the base LS3 and swapping cams to something just a bit bigger than the 525 HP cam.
