Default *QUESTION* DWELL METER CONECTION (2 WIRE)

Vetters,
Its been a while since I used my dwell meter. I have a 2 wire meter, red and black.
Is it red to + side of coil and black to - side of coil? I am thinking this is not correct. HELP.

Thanks Randy

Its been a while since I used mine. Mine has a green wire which connects to the negative side of the coil and the black wire went to a ground. The negative side of teh coil is the one that connects to the points in the distributor which is where the dwell comes from.

Randy if you ever see a orange 69 Z28 with 3 inch exhaust down there it is my brother in law. He lives in Chesapeake. It is running a 421 small block with around 600 HP. Wicked ride. I get down there twice a year and look forward to riding in this car. Drove it once and it is a handful. If you see it go over and talk to him he loves to talk cars.

I believe the red goes to the "-" post on the distributor and the black to ground.

If I recall that is how my old NAPA dwell meter worked

princeRed72, Your correct, I found my post from last year asking the same question. LARS said the same as you.

Gordonm, I guess your green is the same as the red wire on the older meter. same connection, just a different color. I have seen the 69 a few times. We have been at the same car shows once or twice. Looks real nice. My 16 old son has talked to him before.

Yep...."ditto" ...but let's 'dwell' on the subject,

What type of points are you using, Randy ??? - I believe mine are Accel hi-po which Poopy Boys don't carry anymore since they need the room for RICE equipment -
