Anyone have any suggestions on otiginal style pump for 69 small block? Need to replace is rebuild kit the only option?
Also, paint formula for original engine color chevy orange?
Thks!
Hi R,
Arthur Gould Rebuilders is another reliable source for having your present water pump rebuilt.
I attended a seminar a few years ago where someone spoke about his experiences working at both the Flint and Tonawanda engine plants.
He relayed that he remembers there being as many as 12 suppliers for the engine paint and it's likely that each supplier had their own formula.
He also expressed that the time period when the engine was produced could affect the color of the paint on it…. more reddish … more orange.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
This water pump and paint issue is a pain....what paint that was left on the pan was sure more like orange than red. Someone had painted over it with part house red...
Water pump didn't appear to be leaking but don't want to do this but once. Body is off the frame and easier now than later...
Hi R,
Here's an example of 'Dupli-Color' chevy engine orange.
Notice it's not overly glossy which is probably typical of production.
Regards,
Alan
That looks better to me than the red/orange...I wish I had not taken all of the original off before I got my act together! The original sticks in my mine as being a little lighter but too late now...
Thanks Alan!
