Driving home from a vette meet last night my 1978 c3 auto developed a bit of a problem.
It was dark so lights on etc - the revs held up continually at about 3000 rpm - like a sticking throttle and the rev counter was very erractic often staying on max revs although this was not the case of the engine rpm.
Any clues anybody as it was to dark to venture into last night?

If this happens only at night, your alternator is having problems keeping up with the extra demands created by the lights.
THANK YOU BILL FOR YOUR REPLY AND INSTRUCTION, I DO TOTALLY AGREE WITH WHAT YOUR SAYING SO GOING TO SOURCE ONE AND TRY IT.
GOING TO TRY THE CAR TODAY "DAYLIGHT NO LIGHTS" AND SEE HOW IT REACTS.
