Default Ignition Harness wiring Question? Kindly Help.

Just fitting a new ignition wiring harness to my 1970 454.

I am puzzled by two wires that go into the firewall/bulkhead where the oil pressure tubing also passes through. What do they connect to?

From the new harness the wires are orange + purple with a black stripe, (see photo attached) with a female connector attached.

From the old harness they are orange and a black wire with a white stripe, and the wires do not have a connector but have been spliced together (probably the connector broke at some stage).

Also does anyone know where I can the buy the male connector that's missing.

Many thanks

Paul

Hi Paul.
Typically there are 1 or 2 wires running through the 4 hole grommet on 4-speed cars.
On all 4-speed cars the connection for the back-up light is through that grommet. The lead from the dash harness extends into the engine compartment about 4"-5" and connects with the long pigtail coming up from the light switch on the transmission.
On cars with power windows (A31) there are additional wrapped wires running through that grommet. Those wires are for the circuit breaker and horn relay connections.
I don't believe that any other wiring runs through that grommet.
Is it possible that the connector is for the TCS relay mounted on the firewall at that point?
Regards,
Alan
