I need to ship one and my scale bottomed out at #29. Wikipedia says #48. Seems high. Anyone have an actual weight on a factory 9 leaf 2 1/4 Rear spring?

I read some time ago that the Spring weight was about 50 lbs which is the number I reference. Your number of 48# seems correct. A composite is about 8 lbs.

Just weight both my springs from 1978 corvette.

#1 2 1/2" 9 leaf = 41 Lbs
#2 2 1/4" 7 leaf = 42 Lbs

shipping as 42 Lbs is plenty to cover the weight of either spring.

Why I still have these is storage ????

48 lbs. (shipping weight) sounds correct......I weighed my spring on my '69 when I changed to fiberglass spring and it weighed 46 lbs. My composite weighed 6 lbs.
