Default Duntov Motor Company?

Anybody ever use Duntov for Differential parts, etc.

Getting ready for a fairly major purchase for my 73's diff and wanted to see what experiences anyone has had.

Thanks

You're correct. But GM also gave the license to Mongoose after they were sued. The better car and company definitely came out on top on that one.

Just because a differential will handle a road course does not mean it will handle the stresses of drag racing. If you push a stock bearing cap above 400 hp it will stretch. GM engineers knew this in 1964. Even the basic engine builders will tell you polishing and radiusing is needed to prevent cracks.
But a lot of this comes down to common sense. Why would you spend $700 for 17 spline stub axles that will fail under shock loads when you can spend $500 and double the rating. Here are a few words you won't see mentioned. Steel cap, tuned posi, spider gear backlash, 0 runout, trued carrier, fitted axles, pre-seated clutches, radiusing, TimkenUSA bearings.
It's just common sense, Why buy parts from a company that just buys them from someone else and jacks up the price. Free shipping? There is no such thing.

Do a search! A search here is why I would never use them! All I can say is be careful with them. First person I would contact about any differential needs is Tracdogg2 here on the forum. He is in Texas and knows the Duntov guys. He is a terrific guy to deal with and nobody will build you a better differential!

Default Duntov Motor Company

I am using their complete differential in my 73 . It is performing fine behind the 496/635hp big block. Service was fine. I would use them again.

They owe me $600 for the junk parts they sold me that failed in short order. Of course they ignored me when I tried contacting them about it.

I have used them for various parts including a new diff for my 82. That was a year ago on the diff and is working just fine behind a hard hitting 383 motor. No complaints at all.

Why pay 50% more for parts you can buy anywhere else?

I ve used Duntov for years.. they have built several units for friends of mine, all success stories, as well as the Dana 44 w/3.73 gears behind my 525HP Stroker ... its 9 years old now and never had any issues at all...... BTW, I would also like to know where you get better parts for 50% less????

Anyone can build a stock differential. And that's all they build.

Seriously? You would pay $200 for a clutch kit and then pay again for the shims that already come in the kit from Eaton?

50% more = 33% less.
Where? Everywhere.

And since they never built a differential before 2002, don't believe everything you read. And to top it off, who do you they they learned from?

I've heard that they are licensed to use the Duntov name, without the Duntov quality. I have also heard many times that Trackdog knows his stuff!

Some people are very good at marketing, and think they know what they are good at. Some people are really good at what they do, and don't need all the marketing. Smart people seek the latter out.

(get the hint?)

Hmm...

Based on this website, seems many have drank the tracdog coolaid "marketing". This may be warranted, maybe not. I don't know either way. I do know that he and I had a phone conversation today and he offered up some solid info. Something he did not have to do and I appreciate it.

Not sure I am drinking the coolaid yet, but we will see. So as far as a hint, I would have to say no, I don't get it. I am fairly new to this website still, but best I can tell, the marketing on this website is pretty one sided to really a couple of individuals, (three if you include Ford on the cover). So far I can say I have appreciated both of the individuals thoughts.

So thank you to both.
