My '72 used to be a stick shift car.....but on converting to automatic, I bought a chrome HURST shifter rod that fit the stick shift mount and it has an 8 Ball on top of it....

You can't be cool unless you have a 8 ball on your shifter.....

BTW, it uses the stock console plate, but remarked for automatic .....

and there are no buttons to push, you move that lever it does what you want, so leave the damn lever alone when driving.....

Another Megashifter. Turned out pretty nice, but the install is not for the faint at heart.....

Found a better pic.

I just noticed you used ABS plastic for the sides of your console like I am working on. Any problems using it since installed?

That's fresh carpet Kacyc3. I cut and glued it to new panels.

The Money Pit's shifter install was where I got the idea to install my Mega Shifter. He has a website with cool mods on it. Quite a car too!

Thanks for giving me the inspiration and direction Money Pit!

One of the reasons I joined on here was the wealth of knowledge, and willingness for people to share. I put together a website to try and give back some of my own experiences, but used a free site,...which is apparently down more than it is up. Guess I need to find a better free site,...since I'm too cheap to pay for one.

If I were going to replace the orginal automatic corvette shifter, it would be with this,
Camaro original type squeeze horseshoe shifter always liked this design !
good luck on your choice !

That's the exact shifter I want for my Lady, Shiftworks sells a brand new repro(as of this post) for $350, and they make a detent plate for the 3 and 4 speed. Some console fabbing will be required I know, but I have been searching for a while trying to find an existing thread on it. I first saw it on a badass S&S turbo vette on Youtube, and thematically it's perfect for my "theme build", as to me it always looked like the throttle control on an aircraft.

https://www.shiftworks.com/shifter.htm

I figure the SW1001 is the way to go due to the limited space available in a C3, and Shiftworks has everything you need to make it work.
