Default '76 floorboard repair

As I continue my operation of returning this car to operational I have a question regarding the floor boards, I have replacement steel for the floorboards just need to cut and place the new in but I am wondering what would I need to look out for when cutting and any recommendations where to cut? Thanks!

I would cut the bad stuff back till you get to good solid steel then grind and bond (fusor) the new onto it.
