Default A/C Damper door

I have an 81 and trying to figure out how to manually open the door for the AC system? AC does not work but blower motor does. I would atleast like air blowing in from blower motor to winsheild for when its raining. I have tested damper controls from heater/ac controls for hard wire moving the part behind glove box. It does move lt but still will not open damper door, stays blocked no air comes inside when blower motor is running? Going on trip in two weeks. Thanks for any help on this

Are you asking about the Cold/Heat Plenum door for the Cold Hot selector? If so you should still feel air blowing from the fan when it is in either direction. The hard line cable only controls Cold to Hot switching between the heater core to the A/C evaporator side.

If you are asking why no air is coming inside the car from the blower motor, you should get some air blowing from either the floor, middle vents or defroster if the vacuum valve is stuck in one direction? Was it working in the past?

Does the fresh air vent function? How about the passenger side lower kick panel valve and Max Air door?
