Default Astro Vent

According to the parts catalogs that I have, Astro Vent was available on most non AC C3s. I disconnected the actuator and closed the passenger side door with my aftermarket AC install. I have not had the drivers's side apart. Do I have a similar door on that side? Not worried about the aft portion of the system, just trying to get cold air on my feet. '73 that originally had factory air.

For factory air cars, both left side vents (dash ball and footwell) were closed off on the cowl. There is no footwell vent door.

Hi Capt. Ken,
Since your 73 originally had a/c your car didn't have an operating Astro Ventilation system.
Although there were still the metal vents in the rear deck, the vacuum controlled system that opened and closed the 'flapper' doors and the doors themselves were replaced with a fixed metal plate on a/c cars.
I'm curious what FRONT door you closed though since original a/c cars didn't have the kick panel vents/doors controlled by the 'vent' levers on the front corners of the shifter plate?
Regards,
Alan

The levers on non a/c cars that control the 2 kick panel vents.

Default vent

On the passenger side, the vent door was part of the heat/ac system. It was operated by a vacuum selenoid. I beleive the door was open when the heater control was in the vent postition to allow fresh air thru the system to the vents.

Hi CK,
Thanks.
I thought you were referring to the non a/c vent door and wondered if some how your a/c had it!
Regards,
Alan
