Holy crap - you guys are going through a lot of extra work here..........
for me its just the norm LOL , I buy stuff that doesn't work as its supposed to or do what its claimed to do, I'm too far away to send stuff back so I end up fixing it myself .
bazza77. Cabin noise is too much.. I want to get some steel wool and fiberglass to drill holes and wrap like you did.. What steel wool is good enough to handle the heat? Is steel wool that can handle 1200 F good enough? I see some on the link you provided above that should work for $25. What about fiberglass? Just don't want to create a fire hazard..
well that site also sells an alternative to fibreglass they call Bio Safe needle mat which they claim is good for exhaust , I would call or email them and see what they recommend .
What I bought works OK but their stuff actually sounds like a better quality than mine.
I'm at work so I cant go out to the shed and have a look at what I have left over until I get home on Wednesday.
I think I have the same competition mufflers that you found in your pipes, my plan is to cut them open and repack with proper exhaust wool, I have some which you wrap loosly then the heat of the exhaust fluffs it up to fill the void, once I get my gearbox back together and rebuild my diff it'll be near the top of my list of winter jobs!
