Default Rust issue with ceramic coated Hooker headers

I added ceramic coated hooker headers when converted to sidepipes about 12 years ago. Went with the Hooker ceramic coated because of the name and warranty. A few years ago, rust started to appear on the side of the headers where the pipes merge on the side of the car.

Doing some research, I note other forums referring to the same headers had had similar problems. Has anyone on the Corvette forum experienced similar problems, and if so, have you had issues in Hooker honoring the warranty. My research indicated that no one got satisfaction in dealing with honoring the warranty. A major issue dealt with curing the headers--which we did.

The Hooker coating is crap. I bought mine 20 years ago and the coating started flaking off and rusting within 5 years. Don't know if they would have honored the warranty, never bothered. I scuffed them up and used header paint and they look ok, but obviously not as nice as a quality ceramic coating.

I bought a set of ceramic side tubes and they started to rust after a few weeks...I returned them for a set of stainless side tubes.

I used to have a set of Jet-Hot ceramic coated headers (inside and out). Even they eventually started to rust. So when I went to Hooker sidedpipes, I bought stainless.

Now, if Hooker would just make the big block sidepipe headers in stainless, I would be in business.

I'm not happy with my Hooker coating either. You spend upwards of $400 to get a quality piece and they turn out like the $200 painted header.

My car sits outside. It took less than a year to start rusting through the coating. I'm just going to pull them and put VHT paint on them.

Love the fit and function of the headers but the coating does indeed suck.
