The 91160 Howards is a Gaterman Products retro lifter. The paperwork in the box is a printout of the same instructions on Gatermans web site.

I just used a set in a pump gas 383 SBC that I helped a guy with a topend package.

The lifters looked nice, sizing was acceptable and they are performing well in this engine.

You sure did stir the pot over there. I think it's hilarious that David Vizard asked you to compile information for his book! That's awesome

If I were you I would find someone that can be trusted and nail down the combination. Figure out exactly what you are looking for powerband wise
and pick the components to match. Fast camshaft ramps require different lifters and higher spring pressures. Is the cam a SADI core or is it billet steel? All of these must be known before you pick the lifters. On the Howards 91160 lifters I agree they are Gatermans. They are rated to 6700-6800 rpm and are limited travel lifters. I have heard he was an engineer at Crane cams that went out on his own but do not know if this is the case. Good luck on your search

And I am impressed that you told him how long you have been at it. Most people that are asked by David Vizard himself to help him would go to their heads and become experts on everything overnight.

Many "experts" have come and gone here after getting caught up in their own BS and shot down in flames.

I applaud you for your honesty, you are obviously a very smart person.

Are the Delphi LS7 lifters okay to handle .650"? I spoke with Mr. Gaterman about the LS Gaterman lifters. He openly told me they are an offshore ...

The Howards website says the 91160 is made in the USA. I will have to make an inquiry to find out who is making them.

A few years ago I helped a friend with his roller cam conversion on his 350. We used Speed Pro HT5000 which we got for less than $400 new from competition products:

They are a good budget minded middle of the road lifter. Good for mild lift and 6000-6500 rpm. I probably wouldn't use them in a race engine, but for a street engine they have been fine in my buddies car for several years now.

Lifter when you swap the L and the F becomes FiLter. Most hydraulic roller lifters sent in for inspection look like this when taken apart:

When the valving tolerance is .0002 to .0003" these particles can play havoc on the lifters function.
