Default New Header question...

What is the big diffrence between the diffrent brands? i noticed than dynomax sells em for under $230 Hedmans are a little under $500 and then hookers are over $700. this is all for ceramic coated, with the hedmans and dynomax being 1 5/8 primaries, and the hookers being 1 3/4. they all have 3" collector, and the dynomax ones are the only without AIR fittings. do hookers really make that much more horsepower than dynomax and headman, or are you paying for the hooker name?

Have you checked with Summitt or Jegs? The prices you quoted are way too high. Hooker does make headers with 1 5/8" primaries.

i just checked jegs and they have headers that are a bit more reasonable. i will probably go with hooker super comps or hedmans. am i right when i say that the ceramic coating is good for looks and to bring the temp. of the engine compartment down?

I bought a set of the Hedman Elite Headers with a "thermal coating" as they call it From Jegs. They look pretty good but aren't a chrome-like shine by any means. The fit of these headers is also very good and my mechanic loved how easy to install they were and how they didn't hang down under the car. And yes, they do greatly reduced interior and engine compartment temperatures. The rest of my exhaust (see my sig) probably contributes to that too though, but I'd say the headers are obviously doing most of the work in the engine compartment.

I am probably going with DynoMax primarily because I can get them locally. They are Hot-Jet coated and high luster.

I cannot really see how any of the others are better.

For the most part the difference lies in quality of materials and workmanship - Hooker headers also, to some degree you are paying for the name.

Hooker headers are the highest quality headers I have ever seen, I had a set on my big block Monte Carlo. Hedman and Dynomax are comparable to each other IMO with the slight advantage going to Hedman, as some Dynomax look no different to me than the old Blackjack headers (which they either manufactured or bought out)

The Hedmans seem to be very close to equal length tubes - more so than the Dynomax to me but again this is just opinion. I also have a set of Hedmans on my car so I must convince myself of that

I think this has helped me make up my mind. i believe i will go with the hooker super comps. being under $500 for a set of ceramic coated ones, that sounds good to me. mostly because ive never heard anything bad about hookers. ( ) if anyone has anyother ideas...
