Ok I'm getting fed up with this car if it's not one thing it's another thing! Now it's not charging. Now sure if it has even been charging since I've had it. Put a new battery since the battery was bad. Had the alternator checked and it was bad so put a new one. Checked the charging system today with a multi meter and it isn't charging! What do y'all suggest cause I'm lost now. It's on my 82. Here are my results. I was reeving it over 2500 rpm. I read on this forum it could be the warning/charging light? If y'all suggest that where is it located at?
Ok well I got the battery light working now except it seems to be flashing it stays on for like 6-7 seconds then turns off for like 10-15 secs and repeats the process what could that mean? My manual doesn't mention anything about a flashing batt light
+1 on a new alt that does not work. Bought a new one a week or so ago and asked the guy to put it on the tester before I paid. Sure enough it was dead, luckily there was another on the shelf which tested okay.

You said this is on an '82. That almost sounds to me that the crude computer in those cars is telling you something. Is it a code of some sort?

Good time then to check the Alt output voltage and see if it is cycling between battery voltage (light on) and Alt output @+14v (light out).
Fresh/good battery should be @13.8v but your earlier post was closer to 12v likely due to low/no charge coming from the Alt charging circuit.
Cycling could be due to bad Alt or loose belt or excessive load - are there alot of aftermarket electronics?

On the 2-pin connector:
Check for damaged or broken wires.
Check for worn out connectors.
Terminal 1 should be a brown wire. When you ground it the generator light should come on.
Terminal 2 should be a heavier red wire. It should have battery voltage at all times.
