Good Oil Pump
I have 1979 L48 motor, all basic. I have the motor out and was thinking of changing the oil pump. I have a couple of questions:
1. Is it ok to flip the motor up side down with the intake installed on the car in order to make for easier oil pump installation?
2. Which oil pump is a quality pump, I have seen the Melling M55 but was wondering that pump is a good quality pump.
Thanks in advance

1. No reason why you cant.
2. If you want a standard pressure, standard volume pump that is a good recommendation.

Melting Slicks
When I built my Motor I read a lot about Oil Pumps and pretty much everybody agreed that the OEM LT-1 is the best route to go. After receiving it I was amazed at how crudely it was machined so I got a Melling M55 just to see what it looked like. There was no comparison, the Melling looks night and day better. Its the one I used.
