Default what part is this on my engine

On my 1979 Vette there is a part that sticks out on the side of the motor next to the oil dip stick and oil filter, does anyone know what this is and what it is for. Notice it was bent a bit, not sure why. Please see the picture with red arrow pointing to the part I am asking about.

The ball stud for a clutch counter shaft?
Is your car a stick or is this not the original motor?

Default "Z" bar stud.

Part of the clutch linkage. Get a AIM (assembly instruction manual)

Hi,
Here's the stud with the z-bar in place. The 'ball' is inserted in the end of the bar.
This is looking up from below.
The stud is pretty 'hefty' so it would take quite a blow to bend it!
Your stud still has the 'seal' on it.

Regards,
Alan
