So who is good with OLD tires. Here is what I just pulled out from my new (old) vette. I have looked for a way to tell how old this tire is but I'm not having any luck. I know how to read the newer tires, but I think this maybe 70's?????
they havent made F70-15 in many decades, so the tire was made in the 49 week of a year ending in 1, 71 probably. What year is your car? Filling out your profile helps in answering questions.
Hi b,
MW's "date decode" is right on.
The rest of the info is:
MJ….The plant in which the tire was produced.
U2….The tire size
D1A..Type of tire
491..The date.
NICE looking old tire for someone!!!!
Regards,
Alan

Great example of an original date code. A few years later, Good Year moved the DOT label from over the code to its left.
