Default Power Steering Upgrade

Has anyone used the Borgeson / delphi 600 power steering upgrade? This is it on the Borgeson website http://www.borgeson.com/xcart/produc...e=1&featured=Y

and this is it on Corvette America

http://www.corvetteamerica.com/cf/di...wer%20steering

If these kits are two of the same, it looks like they have positive reviews after searching the forum. One modification it requires is shortening the steering column by 2.5" Is that a difficult modification to do? I haven't messed with steering much in my experience.

I bookmarked this particular thread when I ordered mine:

I did mine in an afternoon with the car on jack stands.

With the engine, tranny and complete front suspension out it was super easy. With box out of the way, an air hammer might be a good way to slide the steering shaft in. Mine was so rusty I pulled it and opened the engine end ans cleaned up the bearings. I used an air hammer rather than swinging a sledge at it.

I bought good new grade 8 fine thread with bolts and distorted thread nuts rather than use their cheese grade bolts they supplied. I wouldn't trust my steering to the supplied hardware. I wouldn't trust the sub home depot grade bolts on my fence.

I also didn't care for the supplied bolts and reused the originals instead.

The supplied rag joint was too weak. My PS pump hickuped and I had to make a sharp turn with no assist. The borgeson rag joint tore. Reused the old (OEM replacement) rag joint as it's significantly thicker/stronger.

I installed mine on a complete car, big-block and headers. Pretty much a worst case scenario and it was fairly easy. Also found that I can still get the header out without removing the Borgeson box first which was a bonus. I was thinking the box had to come out as it is so much longer, but the header sneaked by.

Significant improvement over the original set up with more strength and better response. I am using carriage bolts on mine, because of the wider tires and didn't want even a small risk that they would rub the provided bolts.

I am also having the ridetech brace installed
