Guys, do me a favor, look up a U tube titled (Corvette 1969 quiet side exhaust sound) this is by a user by the name of "hillbillyvette". He has a big block on a frame and sounds great!! I was on the fence on side pipes until I saw this U Tube video. I love the sound of a Chevrolet V8 and plan to drive it alot and be able to hear the radio and not to annoy my wife. I did a search and there is a Hill Billy Vette Shop in Tennessee, not sure if that is him. Well anyway trying to figure out where to get this set of quiet side pipes. Did see a few vendors offering loud and quiet and do not want to buy the wrong ones, the ones on the video are perfect!! AL.

I switched to side pipes couple years ago with my 69 bbc and I love it
If you want your car to be quiet and listen to your radio stick with rear exhaust, side pipes aren't for you, who ever told you that they are quiet lied to you lol

Did you see the U tube video? This whole thing with side pipes is catching on. Look on line you will find loud and quiet versions available. There are getting popular with the affordable later C3s owners.

Check video of my 69 with side pipes on U tube, 69 Corvette Stingray 572 sound.

I listened to it and it didn't sound quite to me. I got a dual exhaust from corvette central with flow masters and they are 90 db on the hwy at 3000 rpm. That's loud. Did a great job of boosting the hp though.
side pipes are not quiet unless you put in super restrictive inserts.. maybe that's whats been done in the video you show.. but it may have a negative impact on your HP. With that said, I have side pipes and love them.

Hope it helps.
Looks like stock style 69 side exhaust to me, which are very restrictive.
I think I will be playing it safe, using a set 17482 Dynomax mufflers with Corvette Central pipes. I have Dynomax on my 72 big block Buick GS and sound and performs well!
I have an 81 with side pipes that are very quite, they have reverse flow inserts in them I don't care about the HP loss they sound great and I can listen to the radio when I want.
