So... Now.. I reinstate newly refurbed wiper switch bezel, with new switch.. And hear an encouraging click when I turn it on.. Start doing a bit of fault finding.. And discover another area that has been 'simplified' at some time in the past... The wiper motor wiring!
Comparing my reality vs willcox' very useful wiper troubleshooting guide (thanks willcox!) - I seem to be missing a whole host of wiper motor bits! (And at least 3x connectors)
See pix below... Irritatingly, the wiper motor does power up... But I'm not sure that it can be made to function with a working wiper door without the additional connectors?
Is it retrievable, or am I better off just buying a new one given the host of other stuff to sort out on the car?
Thought that might be the case... Since I looking at that option, I might as well try to kill two birds with one stone..
The washer pump cover is also missing - presumably because it was fouling on the big head hei distributor the car is running.
Do any other c3 wiper motor/pump assemblies clear a BB hei? And if so, are they straight fit, drop in replacement?
Ta
It looks like your missing the wiper/washer pump lug off the wiper motor... Even when running HEI, there is still plenty of room for the factory set up. We have a 68 in our shop right now we're fixing that has HEI and there isn't any issue with getting the wipers or the washer pump functioning.

My 68 mottor looked exactly like that and was also missing parts of the casing. But when I bought a new motor it wouldnt park. After alot of experimenting with old and new parts I found that it was assembled incorrectly. They had the shims in incorrectly and the c clip wasnt even in the groove. My suggestion is carefully inspect the new motor and do a bench test before installing. You'll be happpier if you dont have to remove and install it multiple times
