Sst 5 speed conversion
If anyone who has done this before could help with photos or tips on how to do the swap would be appreciated.
One issue is changing over the peddles , the pin seems to be high up under the dash do you need to take the dash out ? to get to the pin.
Any help would be appreciated
I did not have to remove the dash. I removed the seats, steering column and gauges, then was able to reach the pedal bracket, brake booster bolts and clevis pin. I still felt like a pretzel lying on my back to reach everything. It's a little challenging, but it is doable. I think I used extensions on my sockets to help reach into the smaller spaces.
Putting it back and making sure you have the cutoff switch on the clutch connected is about as challenging. Those 2 parts of the process were probably the worst of the entire project. The transmission and linkage installation was pretty straightforward.
Make sure you take the time to dial on your bell housing. This project was definitely worth it, so take your time and don't give up.
