Well my 72 couple had the famous windshield rust. I had to replace the header and both corner pieces. Thankful for Willcox corvette for getting the part as close to factory as possible. After taking a hundred measurements aND the windshield cracking on me, 6 hours later my frame was put in and correct. I was nervous to start the project so I put it off for a year. Thanks for all of the information on this forum guiding me along the way.
Great job! Was it hard separating the old corners from the posts? Did you spot weld everything back together like original? Bet that one is a load off your mind....
It was kind of hard telling where the original spot welds were because of the rust. We drilled where we thought and air chiseled off. Didn't have an actual spot welder but we drilled holes and tack welded everything on and added a few extra welds for piece of mind
Hi c72,
Looks like you had good results!
The old windshields crack VERY easily!
I'm curious how many trim clips you found across the header? 8-9-10?
Regards,
Alan

Awesome Job
Are you the fella I talked to on the phone the other day?
Taking those pre-cut measurements are so critical when you don't have a jig, but for most people this is a one time affair. You did a very nice job on this.
Alan71. Thanks. I was able to find most of the clips but do the all the rust they weren't salvageable. Luckily Willcox had the clips and new corner molding in Stock so I drove over there to pick the parts up.
Willcox. Yes I'm the guy who spoke to you Tuesday on the phone. I appreciate your support.
Even though my windshield cracked coming out, it broke under the two stops near the wiper area. We were able to hold everything with vice grips and get it squared to the measurements I took and then set the glass in. I had consistent gaps on both pillars and the gap from the top of the windshield to the header was even. Wish I had the jig that Willcox uses but from start to finish it was about 6-7 hours. After rebuilding my trailing arms and now fixing the windshield frame, hopefully all of the hard work is behind me.
Hi c,
Thanks!
I was curious about the number because I seem to see an inconsistent number of clips used and am wondering whether that had something to do with the model year of the car.

Alan
