Default MID AMERICA ORDER

Wanted to share this with you.
I got a box yesterday, from Mid America, the size of a box for an intake manifold. I opended it up and there was all the shipping popcorn and a catalog, and that's it...what the heck? Well I picked up the catalog and this small nut (headlight switch nut) falls out. The nut is the size of a thimble and they shipped it in a box the size of Texas  and charged me $10 postage and handling. Read what I wrote Mid America
(think it's funny)

In regards to order. I received the headlight switch nut (the size of a
thimble) in a box as big as Texas :) I actually had to pull the MA
catalog out to find the tiny part under it. The postage and handling
was $10. My suggestion is if an order contains a backordered part to
call the customer first to see if he/she wishes MA to hold all parts
until the backordered part comes in and ship all at the same time. The
part sent (a small nut) is completely useless unless I have the
headlight switch (the nut attaches to) with it. But the postage and
handling will now be doubled at my expense. To put this in respective,
if you ordered a hamburger from MacDonalds would you want them to serve
you 2 pieces of hamburger bun :) and tell you the hamburger meat isn't
ready yet? Of course not. What could you possibly do with plain
hamburger buns? You'd want them to hold the whole hamburger till you got
something you can eat. Please let me know estimated time till arrival of
outstanding part. Sheli hope you take this as positive feedback, and not
a slight on your company, from long term customer (1994).

Uuhhh.. the way I read the order confirmation, they charge all the freight up front, and don't charge on the backorder.

Yeah...don't worry about it. They don't double-charge you S&H in a backorder situation. And if the do, it's only by mistake.

Some guy in the warehouse must have been having a bad hair day and decided to pull your leg by packing the nut in a big box. :jester

Yup. It's still stupid to ship the part in a huge box full of peanuts. Lots of the big companies do that--I suppose because it's more efficient than having someone looking around for a more suitable box.

I just thought it was hysterical. I could have packed 100,000 nuts in that gigantic box.

So, who is making money on this scam; MA or UPS? Both, I guess. :bs

MA loses money: oversize box and two shipments
UPS gains money: two shipments (UPS always wins)
Customer loses hair (and patience) but not money

I got a nice response.

David,

I am so sorry about that. I have told the supervisor about what happened. Packing should not have sent the item in such a large box. We donot charge you shipping two times. We only charge you once. I have checked on the status of your lights, they should be in by the end of the month. If you have any more question please just email me.

Thanks,
Shelli SXXXX

You're lucky - I have to pay about $120 postage to get my stuff out here. Whether a big or small box, that doesnt include customs hitting me with the 12.%5 tax on top of the order including postage !!  Serves me right for living in the South Pacific. !!
