Clutch Freeplay????
but I still have about 3 inches of freeplay and it grabs very close to the floor. Is there a new
rod I can change it out with that may be a little longer? Part numbers or other ideas needed.

The centerforce clutch comes with an orange sheet of paper that tells you to use an adjustable clutch for pivot ball stud with GM bellhousings. They also give you the measured distance you need to adjust the pivot ball. I just bought one last week, but I dont know when I might install it because I will have to pull the trans to get to it! :(
There are some bubba fixes that I havent tried yet and dont know how well they will work. 1.) You can try a longer clutch rod. This should allow your clutch to engage without putting the pedal to the floor, but if you do happen to put your pedal to the floor you may ram your clutch parts into other nonforgiving parts.
2.) Another forum member suggested to me it is possible to reach in and effectively shim the existing clutch fork pivot ball stud, creating the effect of a longer piovt ball. I havent tried this yet.
If you dont have the "orange sheet" I may have a copy that another forum member scanned and emailed to me. MJ

The sheet metal shims worked great but wore through fast. The thin bar I am using now is too thick and am getting the binding again, not as bad as with no shim but still noticeable. Gonna try grinding the bar out a little to get the fork more perpendicular to the flywheel.
I just bought a Center Force II clutch from Jegs. No Orange slip. The centerforce web site has a link to a tech page that says to use a adjustable pivot ball like you and others have said. The dimension is listed as 4.750" from the face of the flywheel to the face of the ball stud. Is that what your tech sheet says?
Also, as you said, this question comes up evcery time someone buys a CenterForce. Maybe it's easier to just get a stock one?
