I talked to the VB&P tech guy and, as expected, both kits are very similar. The differences are:
- The S&S has stronger springs (550/360 vs 460/330)
- The S&S lowers the front of the car 1"
- The S&S includes their 'smart strut bracket' (52000B)
Both have the same struts rods, when asked about the HD version (with heim joints) he told me they transfer more noise than the ones with poly ends. They also offer a kind of compromise strut rod with one end with a heim joint and one end with poly joint.
I ended up ordering the Street&Slalom package with a smaller rear sway (5/8") and the HD struts rods. I also got their Complete Poly Conversion Kit to use on the rest of the suspension.
I'm still wondering if I should have go with the 'compromise rods' but I imagine the noise can't be too bad...
I would go with the compromise. You can't use poly both ends. I did, and the poly will cause the lock nuts to loosen, due to the lack of compliance when the rod swings in an arc.

I've heard a few forum posters talk about smart strut rods loosening. Mine never have loosened in 35 or so years and i don't even use lock tight

George, Don't you have HEIM joints on yours?
I have poly both ends, and have 20K miles on the car since. Every few years I find one loose, and believe me, they are tight to start with.
I think about 2007 or so.
The Performance Plus is too expensive, will talk to VB&P on Monday to check with their tech guy but I think is going to be the Street&Slalom with upgraded struts rods as ddawson suggested.
Yes it is expensive, when I did mine I was going to do a pertial kit, but got to thinking where do you stop putting new parts onto 40 year old parts. The 40 year old part will eventually fail. The performance plus kit is a complete suspension manufactured to fit together as a whole package. To me it was peace of mind as I'm in the 80 - 85 mph range on the road.
