Default Headers & Side Pipes for a C3

I am contemplating adding headers and side exhaust pipes to my 79 C3 with a 350. I am looking at Patriot Exhaust Side Pipes H1050 w/shield, 2" inlet and 3" outlet. Does any one have a suggestion as to what headers would work best with these pipes?

You'd probably have to use a shorty header and have an exhaust shop weld up an intermediate pipe. Honestly, I would be more inclined to go with either a hooker side mount style kit, or a factory style kit. The patriot pipe might look a little skinny on the side of the car.

Thanks for the advice! You pretty much confirmed the original direction was going in.

I have Hooker Sidepipes on my car... if thats the direction you were leaning towards, I must tell you... it completely changed the car from boring to wow!

If you can, try to find a used set and save a bundle.

Check the C3 for sale section. There's a set of shorty headers and side pipes there

Which ones are those (what brand)? And what inserts did you get?

Default side pipes

My cousin has a 1967 327-350 with the factory side pipes. I have spent many hours in that car and it was just too loud for me.
I don't know if he had the baffles in them but I could not live with that noise or the burn potential. His stereo was useless and I ended up wearing earplugs while riding in his car.

I am using a "Chambered" exhaust system that I bought at Carlisle Corvettes. I have 3" pipes running back from my headers and there are no mufflers in the holes any more. It sounds great when you are behind the car or going slow. On any highway trip you appreciate it even with the top down. I can even hear the stereo when I want to.

For me this was a better choice.

the mid year Vettes had a much louder side pipe than what the factory c3 used.

Default c3 sidepipes

check out the OBX stuff Not as nice as the hooker header/sidepipes but after buying a set I'm impressed.

Got the BB header sidepipe combo shipped for under 700 which is dirt cheap for stainless headers and sidepipes.

nicely polished too.

Just keep in mind the sidepipes are pretty rowdy!!

Keep a towel handy for getting in and out of the car. Thow it on the sidepipes before you jump out.

Ask me how I know! Sizzle yeeeoowww!!!

Check out Billy Boat side pipes:
http://www.bbexhaust.com/shop/chevy-...er-mild-steel/

The website isn't the best, but I called him, he can make them from stainless. Double walled so you don't get burned. Cost more than the OBX but made here in the U.S.A.

I have a used set of Hedman SB side exhaust headers available for sale, they Came off of my '69 L46
Just replaced them with a new (ceramic coated) set.
If you might be interested, let me know, I would entertain an offer.
