Default Mufflers

Hi,

Today I have Flowmaster 42541 in my SBC 350, I'm thinking about trying Magnaflow.

I've found Magnaflow 13216 and 11226
Any comments to the mufflers? (or are there others)

My Flowmaster have drone from 2500-2800rpm, besides that, they sound nice.

Thx.

This is really subjective, as depending on gear ratio and the nature of the whole combination, windows up, windows down, anyone could end up with drone at various different rpms.

I had magna flows on my car with the corvette central exhaust. It was too quiet for my tastes. I'd keep the flow masters, and maybe think about adding an overdrive down the road.

AFAIK, the Magnaflow XL mufflers are chambered not straight through. I would expect the XL to sound deeper, louder and produce more drone. They are more similar to the Flowmasters.
The straight through will give less noise, less drone and should be less restricting to the exhaust.

I've never heard any of this mufflers, this is just based on research I did last week before buying a couple of #14326 which are the same as #11226 but shiny.

I have Magnaflow XLs on my car, and previously had Flowmasters, though completely different exhaust systems with each. The Flowmasters were on a factory style (for my '79) 2 into 1 and back out to 2, 2.5" system, whereas the Magnaflows are on a dual 2.5" system with x pipe. When I first swapped to the Magnaflow system I was a bit disappointed as it was a lot quieter, definitely a decrease in idle volume and a huge decrease in drone at cruising speeds. After putting the new engine in though, (high compression stroker with a pretty big cam) I am very happy with the Magnaflows, sound great at all times, no drone on the highway, make some noise without being excessive and really open up when you bury the accelerator. Hope it helps?

I went from spintech that would give you a headache from droning to Dynomax VTs which have very little if any drone while cruising here's a video.

Hi all,

Thanks for your help.
Based on what you all tell, then I will get the same sound if I buy 13216
So it must be 11226

Thx all :- )

Hi C3, the 11226 muffler should work great for your Vette! That size is popular to use as a muffler replacement, and will give you a nice streetable volume. If there are any questions we can answer, you can shoot us a PM at any time!

I happened to be on a local Craigslist some years ago, a guy cut a set of stainless Maggies off his Mustang, but I have a magician for a pipes man, and he got them on the '72 with no sweat.....sound GREAT!!! no drone, just a nice little rumble, hell the tires are louder, and my car is a convertible....

suffice to say I stole them all the way around.....price to buy, delivered by a guy around the corner, and then Ricky to install them....

I could look through them and they are oval shaped....
