Default Location for Oil Temp. Sensor?

Hello,
Where would I install an Oil Temperature Sensor on my 1971 L48 350 Block, and what sensor do i Need to use? I do not want to use the Oil Pan drain screw as the Location. Maybe somebody can sell me one or post a link where i can buy one. I live in Germany, and the Oil Temp sensors there are all metric size threads.

Thank you!!

V/r
Alex

Yes, that's where the sensor was put for the 81 and 82 models. You should be able to get an oil temp gauge and sensor for an 81 and it will take the place of your clock.

Correct..that is where I mounted the temp sender on my 78 in 1985! Removed the useless clock and replaced it with the 81/82 oil temp gauge that matches the other gauges perfectly...looks stock. Its been there so long, when I see other C3's with a clock, it strikes me as weird...I did have to relocate my oil pressure sending unit to behind the distributor on the top of the engine though from above the oil filter....

Thank you. Yes, for oil pressure on the old 71' s the pressure line runs too out behind to the side of the Distributor...

What is actually the thread size of this hex insert? I may look for an Adapter so I can use a metric sending unit. A sending unit with a metric thread size i could get everywhere over here, just not US (Inch) thread size one

Can somebody else confirm that the Hex insert above the oil filter is 1/4 NPTF - I did find a VDO oil temp sensor with that size, but would like to be 100% before I order it. It is also available in 1/2 Inch NPTF...

This answered my question I was searching for; if that port could be used for oil temp.
I already have the gauge, and it says it's 740 - 55 Ω, does anyone know where to find this range sending unit with the correct threads for that location?

Thanks
