Hi Guys,After checking for high speed blower issue I found my main fuse panel was loose! (by your left foot)The bolt through the center is tight
Is there suppose to be a filler plate on both sides of the fire wall or am I missing something?
cheers Dave NZ
Model year? There is a metal tapping plate on the engine side of the firewall under the hood. Inside the car, the fuse block usually bolts through the firewall into the tapping plate in the upper right and lower left corners of the fuse block.
Hi Dave,
Here's a photo of what may be the plate that Mike describes.
It's on my 71 so I'm not sure how similar it might be to the one used on your car.
Regards,
Alan
This photo is taken looking in through the side grill on the left side.
You can see one of the rivets used to attach the plate to the firewall.
One piece of info for you, on my 68, my fuse block was loose too even after checking the holddown bolts. Found out one of the plastic support corners was broken off. So I installed another used fuse block that was all good. Took lot of notes, and swapped the wires over one by one. Getting the metal tabs on the end of the wires out of the broken fuse box was a hassle to say the least. I tried a small screwdriver and also made a release tool out of a piece of sheet metal, ha! Finally got it all done, tough spot to work, but foul language and unique persistence that all C3 owners acquire got it done!!
Hope this is not your problem, and you get off easier, but worth a check. Good luck and hope this helps.
Hi Team,Thanks for the replies, Alan, your picture is worth a thousand words.
The problem was the fuse block on the inside was not attached to the fire wall or the plate on the other side(thanks Easy Mike) making it very loose,I reattached it and sealed the engine compartment side and now its all good.
In the process of moving wires etc I found a spare! Any suggestions what it is?
Almost forgot again!! 1977
Many thanks Cheers Dave NZ

I may get this wrong, but that looks like the harness connector for a clutch safety switch - The one that only gets used if you have a standard transmission.
