Default Torq Thrust fitment question

I'm replacing my 15x8 rallys with Torq Thrust wheels. I am running 235/70/15 tires on all 4 corners with no issues. Best that I can tell, the wheels pictured below will work. Feedback?

Thanks in advance!

You want a 4" backspace or -12MM offset.

These are 4.5" backspace or 0MM offset.

I looked up the part number on the American Racing website

They are -25mm offset and 3.77 backspace and they are highlighted to fit your car.
http://www.americanracing.com/wheelS...-torq-thrust-d
Part Number, Size, Bolt Pattern, Offset, B/S, Finish, Bore, Load Rating, MSRP, Cap Part#
VN1055861, 15" x 8.5", 5x120.65, -25, 3.77, TORQ THRUST GRAY W/ MACH LIP, 83.06, 1580 lbs, $129, 1055001

I see

VN10558061 0 offset 4.5" Backspace
VN1055861 -25 offset but 15x8.5 3.77 Backspace

For the VN10558061 I get
Inner Clearance 12mm less
Outer Clearance RETRACT by 12mm

For the VN1055861 I get
Inner Clearance 7mm more
Outer Clearance EXTEND an extra 19mm

So, I am a little confused now. A stock 15x8 rally wheel has a 4" backspace That's equivalent to -12mm offset. Correct?

However, the TT wheels in 15x8 come only in 4.5" backspace. So, if I move to a
15x8.5 wheel, then it looks like VN 1055861 is the best option, giving me 7mm more inner clearance, but pushing the wheel out an extra 19mm (.75"). Is there anyone running THIS wheel? I just want to make sure I get this right.

Thanks!

You can use the 4.5" backspace but the wheel will move in 1/2"

I personally think it looks a little off when I see it at car shows. You could use a spacer to correct it.

You could also order the Correct backspace from here but it costs more because custom.

Not sure how the VN1055861 will fit. 3/4" sounds like a lot.

Take a ruler to yours and see what you think. With guys running 10" wheels on stock flares I'm guessing it would work.

I know that there are hundreds, if not thousands of C3s without flares running the TT -D wheels. I guess all I am trying to find out is what other forum members are running (specific TT-D model number), and perhaps even some would be kind enough to post pictures.

American Racing says that VN1055861 is the correct wheel...

Thanks!

8.5 x 15 will fit, no flares needed. Especially the D's will clear the calipers. On the TTO's you either Need to use 8mm hubcentric spacers or use 5mm hubcentric spacers, and have the spokes professionally machined from the inside 2.5mm. Then it will clear, this is what I did! I have 225/70/15 in the front and 235/70/15 in he back.

The 3.88 backspace will stick out the farthest, and the 4.5"bs will tuck the wheels under the car the neatest.

My concern is that with the 4.5" bs the wheels will be too close on the inside, especially with the 235/70s that I am running.

Why don't you go to a wheel shop and do a test fit with a 4.5" bs and see how much room you have?

The wheel shops around here are ridiculously priced, and once MY tires are mounted on their wheel, I own it.

Really, the whole point of this post is to see what sizes others on the forum are running, and to see some pictures of them installed, to help me make the best decision. Does anyone have pictures of their TTs? If so, could you please post the backspace and wheel size you are running?

Thanks again...

Lots of great info in those two links, which I have poured over previously. I truly do appreciate everyone's help. But it seems the more I research, the more I get conflicting answers. It looks like the 15x8.5 with 3.77 backspace should fit no problem, with no rubbing on the "inside", and should clear the disc brakes as well. However, I am not sold on the look, as I think they stick out just a little too far.

With that said, I am starting to look at 15x7 with 3.76 backspacing as I see some people running. My concern is that 7" isn't going to be a good size to work with my almost new 235/70R/15s. Also, since AR doesn't list them as a "fit" on their site, I have concerns there as well. Any feedback?

Thanks

You can't go wrong with a 15 X 8 wheel with a 4 inch backspace. That is what the original Rally's are. I am running 245/60/R15's all around on the stock rally's and with the front wheels fully locked my tires just kiss the frame. I just fit checked a new wheel with a 4.5 backspace that there is more interference with the frame and the tires will kiss the frame before full lock of the steering. I'm researching different wheels and found there are several wheel manufactures who will build you a wheel with a 4 inch backspace. The only issue I've found is that you may have to wait an extra week or two for your wheels because they are not on the shelf in-stock. Don't settle for what they have in-stock. I have found the wheels I want with a 4 inch backspace and will be ordering them soon. My .02 cents. Greg
