I think I have 10 leaf spring on my 72 and as I understand it's a dealer replacement or maybe a used one off a 75 or 76....? It appears to have NBZ/2402 stamped/stenciled on the bottom. On a side note does anyone sell the plastic liners in a roll...?
Yes most of the corvette suppliers sell the plastic inserts they are not very expensive
I do not know what the # mean, most stock springs are 9 leaf
F 41 are 7 leaf
Hi Brian,
I'm not aware of a source for the liner material in a roll… just in pre-cut lengths.
It seems to me that SOMEONE would be doing that…but…. I don't know who.
I can't imagine all the vendors are making liner sets themselves (it's a lot of work)… there must be just one or two sources…. but who?
Regards,
Alan
I found a source in rolls but I'm not sure if it's that same or not.....They sale it in different widths and the product is supposed to be about 1/16" thick with the lips on both sides. The lip would have t be cut off where the bolts go. $17 for a 20 foot roll. I'm not sure if one 20 foot roll would be enough for my 10 leaf or not....I'll measure it up tonight to see.
Hi Wee,
20' enough? It'll be close!
I'd think cutting the lip off on each side may be a bit of work. I found the liner material to be pretty tough.
Regards,
Alan
Looks like I would need about 21 feet....I think the 20 foot roll would work just fine for a 7 or 9 leaf spring. I'll know for sure when I pull it all apart.

The NBZ is the broadcast code and would be printed on the buildsheet beginning in 73. I suspect the code is consistent with a 75/76 rear spring. The 20432 is the last five digits of the part number. The same year AIMs would list the spring part number.
Hunt...Thank you for the info...I see no way this was original to my car, but this spring has been on the car for quite a few years.
Alan...The roll I found wasn't correct for a vette....It just has an "L" shaped lip and not a "T" shape. I did locate what appears to be NOS roll that has the correct lip.
I may just clean-up and reuse what's on there now.
Well I finished up the spring....I did kinda have a hiccup with the bulk roll of liner material I bought off eBay....It was listed as 26'-6" and I needed right at 23 feet....When it came in it was only 19 feet long....I contacted the eBay seller and within 20 minutes he had refunded all my money and said to just keep the roll that he had made a mistake when he listed it. What a stand up guy... His eBay user name is coreycamaro.
I ended up having to reuse a couple of the old liners. I hope to get it back on tomorrow night....Just a reminder to anyone reading this and doing the same...Do not torque the spring to differential bolts till it's back on the ground.
It's painted light grey but looks white in the pics.
