The 71 small block, 4 speed convertible I just purchased doesn't have power steering and I'm considering adding a rack and pinion set-up from Vette Brakes and Products.
Bought a brand new stock-type kit and installed it. It has been just fine and works well.
IF I were to do it today - I would go with the Borgesen conversion. Just makes more sense. Take a look at that, or search the forum for Borgesen steering.

Reason: correct spelling
I have power steering on my 73. It was leaking fluid when I bought the car and I found that the prior owner had replaced several components with cheap "made in China" parts. I repaired the leaks and plan to go through the system and swap over to electric steering. There are several threads on this forum that you may want to read that provide good information. I've heard good things about the VBP rack and pinion systems and many swap out their OEM systems to Borgesen.

My 6t8 was upgraded to P/S R&P. Way to responsive for daily road use, I'm in the process of moving tie rods to outer holes. The 69 was upgraded to the Borgeson, which is my daily driver, excellent road manners.T
I added the 12.5:1 Borgeson a few years ago. Love it. Relatively easy install other than had to unbolt the column in order the get the rag joint right (which is covered in the instructions). Would do again.
