brake light problem

Default brake light problem

I have a 79 corvette the passenger side brake light are dimmer than the driver side and when I press the brake pedal the right side brake light goes off when I have the headlights on

Um check bulb with known good bulb and check grounds

I agree, check the sockets for a bad ground.
Attach a wire to a good ground and the other end to the brass socket as shown.



If the bulb goes to full BRIGHT then you need a new bulb socket.

thank you I'm going to try it after work tomorrow I will be so happy so I can move on another assignment on the car

Could be the wrong bulb in one of the taillights. But it's more likely that you have some grounding issues. With age, the electrical terminals corrode and that can result in a poor quality ground. To correct this, you should consider disassembling as many ground connections as you can find, cleaning them up (terminal and mounting location), reinstalling and putting sealant over the connection or spraying it with protective paint/material.

If you only fix the one that is causing you trouble at the time, the others will follow eventually. Git 'er done!!!
