Have you changed out the speakers for some that have 4 ohm impedance? If so, it's very possible that you turned the volume up loud and blew out the power transistor on the 'convector' unit (behind the passenger dash panel). The stock speakers are 10 ohm units; a 4 ohm replacement will draw 2-1/2 times the [expected] current. Turn it up very much and the final amp transistor blows.
Whether it was done on your 'watch' or with a prior owner, the cause is likely the same....IF the speakers have been changed to lower impedance units.
If the speakers are the originals, then the speakers probably NEED to be replaced. You can replace them with 8 ohm units without having the risk of overpowering the amp.
If the power transistor needs to be replaced on the 'convector', you will not find a DIRECT replacement (DS-501). But, you can find a 'substitute' transistor with the same performance characteristics and install it in place of the original transistor. It may come in a different case design; but that shouldn't matter, as long as you can install it properly.
